Dear Church Family,
As we celebrate Independence Day this July, our hearts are filled with gratitude for the many blessings God has poured out upon our nation. This year is especially significant as America enters the celebration of its 250th Anniversary, a remarkable milestone that reminds us of God's faithfulness throughout generations.

For two and a half centuries, the United States of America has stood as a beacon of freedom, opportunity, and hope. While our nation has faced challenges, wars, hardships, and seasons of division, the hand of God has remained evident. We remember that our freedoms were not merely won by courageous men and women but were ultimately granted by Almighty God.

The Psalmist declares:

"Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people He chose for His inheritance." (Psalm 33:12)
As Christians, we understand that true liberty is found not in governments, constitutions, or political systems alone, but in Jesus Christ.

"So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed." (John 8:36)

The freedoms we enjoy as Americans give us the privilege to worship openly, proclaim the Gospel boldly, and serve our communities faithfully. These freedoms should never be taken for granted. Many around the world long for the liberties we often overlook.

As we celebrate fireworks, parades, family gatherings, and patriotic traditions, let us also remember those who paid the ultimate price for our freedom. We honor our veterans, active military personnel, first responders, and all who continue to sacrifice for the safety and well-being of our nation.

Yet as believers, we are called to do more than celebrate—we are called to pray.
God's Word reminds us:

"If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land." (2 Chronicles 7:14)

America's greatest need is not political reform; it is spiritual revival.

Our nation needs churches filled with the Holy Spirit.

Our communities need believers living holy and faithful lives.

Our families need fathers and mothers who will lead their homes in prayer and devotion.

Our children need to see a generation unashamed of the Gospel.

As we look toward America's 250th Anniversary celebration, may we recommit ourselves to being salt a light in our community. May Aransas Pass Methodist Church be known as a church that loves God, loves ple, proclaims the truth, and seeks the transformation of hearts through Jesus Christ.

The Apostle Paul reminds us:

"For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery. " (Galatians 5:1)

Let us stand firm in our faith.

Let us pray for our nation.

Let us teach the next generation the truths of God's Word.

Let us be grateful citizens of our country and faithful citizens of God's Kingdom.

As we celebrate this Independence Day, may God bless our church, our community, and the Unite America. Happy Independence Day!
In Christ, Rev. Scott Patton
